Dermaplaning is not shaving, and it is not for every skin
Dermaplaning gets lumped in with shaving more often than any other facial technique, and it is worth saying plainly that it is not the same thing. A blade is drawn across the skin at a shallow angle to lift away dead surface cells and the fine, colorless vellus hair that sits on the face, the kind everyone has and almost nobody notices until it is gone and the skin underneath catches light differently.
It suits skin that is dull, textured or holding onto a layer of dead cells that skincare alone is not shifting, and it is generally not where Tomo starts with skin that is actively inflamed or breaking out heavily, since a blade pass is not what that skin needs first. The ninety minutes starts with the dermaplaning exfoliation itself, then moves into a mild enzyme peel that works on what the blade has just exposed, lifting a level deeper than either step could reach alone. Cryo ultrasound follows to calm and work the skin at the same time, which matters because two exfoliating steps back to back can otherwise leave skin feeling stripped rather than refreshed.

The fortnight after a dermaplane, and the wax option instead
The biggest myth about dermaplaning is that the hair grows back thicker or darker. It does not. Vellus hair has a fine, blunt tip to begin with, and shaving off the surface end does not change the follicle underneath it, so regrowth comes back exactly as fine and pale as it was before. What does matter afterward is sun protection, since freshly exfoliated skin is more exposed than usual and SPF stops being optional for the next couple of weeks.
