Extraction is the part everyone gets wrong
Most acne facials squeeze extractions into whatever time is left after the mask and the massage, which is exactly why they hurt more than they should and clear less than they promise. The Acne and Oily Skin Corrective at Tulum Spa runs ninety five minutes for the opposite reason. Extended manual extractions are the point of the session, not an afterthought fitted around it, so the work can move through real congestion properly instead of rushing the parts that actually matter.
That extra time also means the skin gets a chance to settle before you walk back out onto Washington Blvd. A facial that treats extraction as a five minute add-on tends to send people home red and irritated. Here the pace is set by what the skin in the chair actually needs that day, which is also part of why the studio only takes four clients a day rather than filling a full column of back to back bookings.

Clay, targeted peels, hydrafusion and a purifying mask
The session opens with a chemical clay mask to draw out surface oil and loosen the congestion underneath it, followed by targeted peels rather than one blanket strength across the whole face. That is a deliberate choice. Oily, acne prone skin is rarely uniform, so treating the chin the same as the cheeks and forehead usually means overtreating one area and undertreating another.
After the extended extractions, hydrafusion therapy pushes hydration back into skin that has just been through active work, and a purifying mask closes the session down. One client who came back for a second visit had been dealing with breakouts along her chin for weeks, and Tomo noticed the pattern was likely tied to stress before the extractions even started. The extraction itself was a little uncomfortable, as extractions honestly are, but the raised blackheads flattened out, and redness she had carried around her nose and upper lip for years was visibly better afterward.

Acne is a course of visits, not a single facial
One session rarely finishes the job, and the menu at Tulum Spa reflects that with a few related options rather than pushing everyone into the same $175 corrective. Teenagers dealing with hormonal breakouts have their own facial, the Teen Facial and Wellness at $85 for 50 minutes, which treats the skin itself and also covers basic education on skin diet, exercise, mental health and general wellness, since teen acne is rarely only a skincare problem.
Acne on the back gets its own treatment too. The Backne Facial is $185 for 70 minutes, with deep cleansing, an enzyme peel or granule scrub, steam, extractions and a relaxing massage before a purifying mask, and for anyone dealing with both, the Face and Back Facial Combo runs $260 for 110 minutes with a $100 deposit, plus $15 for gentleman clients. There is also a dedicated Gentleman's Facial at $175 for 90 minutes with a $100 deposit, built around deep pore cleansing and facial and drainage massage rather than borrowing a women's facial format.
